Cultural Lens Model
Our approach is to help those working in multinational contexts discover how people differ in seeing and expecting. Our approach is aimed to improve decision making, sensemaking, and planning. We use a Cultural Lens model to help leaders, designers, operational personnel, and managers identify serious cognitive mismatches that might get in the way of their collaboration. We develop scenarios and provide feedback that allows people to anticipate the thinking and actions of those from different national backgrounds. We also help people learn strategies for avoiding problems, for coping with misunderstandings when they do arise, and for changing attitudes and actions.
Helen Klein's chapters and articles have been used in training course offered for United States Air Force officers and civilians at the Squadron Officers College and at the Air University Culture and Language Center. They have also been used at the Naval Postgraduate School.
